The Cultivation Network of Canada (“CNC,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy of our members, subscribers, donors, and website visitors. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation.

By using cultivationnetwork.ca (the “Site”) or becoming a member of CNC, you consent to the collection and use of your personal information as described in this policy.

1. Who We Are

The Cultivation Network of Canada is a federally incorporated not-for-profit organization under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act, registered office at [registered office address]. We publish Cultivation magazine, operate member programming (seminars, roundtables, and a members’ forum), and produce the 10 Neat Things newsletter.

2. Information We Collect

We collect personal information directly from you, including:

  • Contact information: name, email address, mailing address, phone number
  • Membership information: membership tier, join date, renewal status
  • Payment information: processed securely through Stripe, our third-party payment processor. CNC does not directly collect or store your full credit card number — Stripe handles all payment card data in accordance with PCI-DSS standards.
  • Communications: information you provide when you contact us, submit a form, or participate in our forum, seminars, or roundtables
  • Newsletter subscriptions: email address for 10 Neat Things and other CNC communications
  • Technical information: IP address, browser type, device information, and pages visited, collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies (see Section 6)

3. How We Use Your Information

We use personal information to:

  • Process membership registrations, renewals, and payments
  • Deliver print and digital copies of Cultivation magazine
  • Provide access to seminars, roundtables, recordings, and the members’ forum
  • Send the 10 Neat Things newsletter and other communications you’ve opted into
  • Respond to inquiries and provide member support
  • Improve our website, programming, and member experience
  • Comply with legal and accounting obligations (e.g., donation receipts, financial records)

We do not use your personal information for any purpose beyond what is reasonably needed to operate CNC and its programming, and what you would reasonably expect given your relationship with us.

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may share your information with:

  • Service providers who help us operate the Site and deliver services on our behalf, including Stripe (payment processing), Brevo (email/forms), and our website hosting provider. These providers are only permitted to use your information to provide services to us.
  • Legal requirements: if required by law, regulation, court order, or governmental request.
  • Business changes: in the event of a merger, reorganization, or transfer of CNC’s operations, subject to equivalent privacy protections.

5. Where Your Information Is Stored

Some of our service providers (including Stripe) may store or process data outside Canada, including in the United States. Where this occurs, your information may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction, including lawful access by foreign authorities.

The Site and CNC membership are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
