Canada's Local Gardener subscriptions
If you subscribed to Canada’s Local Gardener, this page is for you. It covers what happened, what changes, and what does not.
What happened to CLG?
Canada’s Local Gardener published for 28 years under different names, which is a good long run for a magazine this specialized. But a niche Canadian publication cannot pay its own way forever, and rather than let it wither slowly, we chose to close it properly. CLG has ceased publication.
What is the Cultivation Network of Canada?
The Cultivation Network of Canada is a new national nonprofit organization built to carry practical, evidence-based gardening knowledge forward. Our companion print journal is called Cultivation. Your CLG subscription has been transferred into our system, and it now lives alongside our other subscriptions and memberships.
How do I log in?
Your subscription record already exists in our system, but you will not have a password for it yet. To set one:
- Go to cultivationnetwork.ca/login
- Click “Lost your password?”
- Enter the email address your subscription is under (we recently sent an email to it)
- Follow the link that arrives to set a password of your own choosing
Once you are logged in, your account page will confirm your membership is active.
What happens to the issues I am still owed?
Every CLG subscriber has a different number of issues remaining, so we cannot give one answer that fits everyone here. The email you received named your specific number. Those issues will still be delivered. We are working through mailing addresses and delivery timing, and will follow up directly as that plan comes together.
Do I have to do anything else?
You don’t have to, but you can.
The Cultivation Network offers some online bounty that is reserved for people who purchase memberships. There are additional articles in the Member’s Library and a Garden Chat forum where you can talk to other members.
In a few months, members will also be invited to attend roundtables and seminars as well as viewing recordings of them.
You can become a member while you are still receiving the remainder of you CLG subscription. Just choose a Digital Membership. Once your subscription has run out, you can upgrade your membership if you like.
